Sweet retro furniture for playing. Kitchen, washing machine, shelves and desk all designed and made by Macarena Bilbao. Inspired by the 1950s look and feel she started out with a kitchen for her kids - and from there it has grown into a shop. Take a closer look at the shop.
Boidem is a furniture for mess and a pretty one. When I saw it in Frankfurt in the beginning of the year I must admit that I fell in love with the idea. I guess it is not a new idea to raise a basket or similar up to the ceiling, but with simple and aesthetic design it is easy to use it in a modern home with kids. Great design from the cotten rope to the wooden knob where you attach the rope.
The last couple of days it has been all about spring cleaning at the office and in my stock. So there is empty cardboard boxes all over the place, that I until now just wanted to take to recycling. But then I visited this blog and saw these great cardboard box projects at this super blog. So I will save boxes for the easter holiday and then we can create castle out of them. IKEAs PS collection is alway something to wait for and soon there will be several news from IKEA PS 2014 near you. (In Denmark the 25 april.) Above you see some of my favorites - a balance bench I have to have for the garden for all the balancing kids. The bench immediately gave me a feeling of something I knew, it was the back of the chair, same design as the handle of a kick sledge, which is an ancient Scandinavian means of transport. :) The garden table I would love to have, it is easy to fold and I will use it inside and outside, when guest are around.
IKEA sees this collection for people and homes in motion
What to get your children for christmas - should it be a toy, a sustainably thing, a long lasting thing for their room....so many things go through my head. One thing I would consider would be these carpets for my daughters room - they are cute to look at, great natural materials, long lasting and soft to lie on. se more here.
Years ago I made this article about upscaling my kids small plastic animals and other funny thing. Collect a big pile of mini toys that your kids will not miss or will give you an ok to use. Take the selected frame and place all the figures the way you like — take at picture to remember the "pattern". Spray paint all the figures.
When dried — glue them to the canvas with a glue gun, and you will end up with a modern art peace to give someone, or put on the wall.
Sweet Melvin a bedside table and at the same time a subtle light when it is time to sleep. His mouth holds books and other stuff needed close to the bed. Melvin is designed by Elena Nunziata. (se more here)
Michaela Weisskirchner-Barfod has created an amazing blanket where she combines 3 functions in one. A sleeping bag, a blanket and a bird. She has not only created a multifunctional baby blanket she has also introduced origami in a new way - because the blanket can be folded in various ways and even end up as a swan. The colors are subtle in a beautiful mix and will look great in the living room or children's room. Unfortunately all my kids are to big for this blanket, but I would love to give it as a gift to someone dear.
